Memoirs of Rossum is not an album, it’s a nightmare enhanced by The Moor’s state of mind.

Initially Memoirs of Rossum was intended as an e.p. with demo versions of The Moor’s “vintage” tracks Candlelight and Neo Futurist Fantasy, that first appeared on the band’s debut album “Every Pixie Sells a Story”. However, Neo Futurist Fantasy had a gap in the beginning of the song so Kenneth started to write a short intro.

The e.p’s title was hinting at Karel Čapek’s play R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots) and Kenneth contacted Knut about some lyrics for the intro - and Knut responded with two long pieces - that inspired Kenneth to write two completely new tracks. So it quickly became a concept album with some Isaac Asimov/Philip K. Dick over- and undertones. It can also be seen as a commentary on today’s neo-liberal market fundamentalism’s pillage of all human physical and mental resources, where only the productive are seen as valuable citizens (the only one’s valuable to survive, as they match the standards of productivity).

So, just as The Moor is a state of Mind - Memoirs of Rossum may well sound like the mind of a state.

Prominent members of the band are Nik , who used to be in Hawkwind and Inner City Unit, Klas who played with the swedish hard-rock phenomenon Lambretta and Stefan, who plays bass in The Moor but also keyboards in the popular progressive rock band Simon Says.

Knut is a German writer and media-artist whose videos were shown at various int. media-festivals.

Kenneth, Jonas, Hans and Peder are just ordinary human beings. . . btw, we haven’t seen Peder in 17 years. . . anyone who knows where he is?
